Gen 2:1 Then the Sky and the Earth were finished, and all their auxiliaries. 2 Then God finished on the seventh day the work He had done. He sabbathed — on the seventh day — from all the work He had done. 3 God blessed the seventh day; then He set it apart, in that on it He had sabbathed from all His work that God had created by making.
And, because the next verse is a hinge between two different versions of the story of creation, my “Two Versions of the Story” (originally posted just before the end of 2:3) belongs here too.
