3 Adam lived 130 years וַֽיְחִ֣י אָדָ֗ם שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וּמְאַת֙ שָׁנָ֔ה
We don’t know it yet, but when we get to v. 6 — the next semi-paragraph of this chapter — we’ll realize that what we are reading is being presented in a pattern. The pattern of the chapter will be set with the next son; this first paragraph is the exception that proves the rule. Nonetheless, it already tells us something surprising: this is Adam’s first son, a different story than we are told in Genesis 4.
